Edward “Eddie” Schnitger

Watertown — Edward “Eddie” Schnitger, 67, of Watertown, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2019 at Marquardt Health Center in Watertown. Edward Schnitger was born on October 11, 1952 on the family farm in Watertown, the son of Everett and Florence Roberta (nee Myers) Schnitger. His mother was involved in the Salvation Army which took Eddie to Washington. Eddie had farmed in his early years prior to employment at Aunt Nellie’s in Clyman which later became Seneca Foods. He finished his remaining years of employment at Hand of Help in Watertown, a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing aid to Eastern Europe, mainly Romania. He was an active member of Christian Life Family Church in Watertown and considered them family. Eddie loved reading the Bible and traveling with friends as part of his evangelism activities. At one time Eddie found himself homeless because of an undiagnosed brain tumor, it was because of this experience that Eddie was active locally in housing the homeless and extending an outreach to the poor. He loved farming and collecting tractors and was a member of the Watertown Moose Lodge.
